About Dr. Uro

Dr. Michael A. Uro was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry. He obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine, in San Francisco California, in 1976. He then completed a one year preceptorship in 1977 and a one year surgical residency in 1978. He has been helping people with their foot pain and podiatry in Sacramento California since 1978.
Dr. Uro has been a leader in his profession. He has served as Podiatry Chair of the surgery departments of both Mercy General Hospital and Sutter General Hospital, where he continues to have surgical privileges. He has served as President of the Sacramento Valley Podiatric Medical Society, and continues to maintain an active membership in the Society. He is a member of the California Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association. He has been an off-site clinician in the training of University of California at Davis family practice physicians.
Dr. Uro is a fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) and board certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of podiatric surgery (ABPS).
He has lectured on laser technology in several countries including Spain, New Zealand and Canada, as well as all over the United States. On July 24, 2014 he spoke at the APMA (American Podiatric Medical Association) Annual Scientific Meeting (The National) on “Lasers in the lower extremities; onychomycosis, warts, scars, and neuromas".
Dr. Uro has trained doctors from all over the world in the use of laser. These doctors have been from Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Spain, England, Canada, Turkey and Ireland.
He is a past member of the East Sacramento Rotary Club. He enjoys cooking, traveling, snowboarding and exercising daily. He has four children and two granddaughters. Dr. Uro speaks Spanish and Italian and is striving to learn Basque and is on the board of the local Basque Club (Iparreko Ibarra).
